Proximity #2 > we are going to rock you world.

The next issue of Proximity covers a wide range of under represented cultural metropoles, artist run spaces, art scenes in small places, and much much more. Turn in your frequent flier miles and get ready to meet your new neighbors.
We'll be sharing stories and making personal introductions to some spaces, creators and projects from Helsinki, Seattle, Miami, Reykjavik, Salt Lake City, Rotterdam, Madison, Haiti, Copenhagen, Champaign/Urbana, Kansas City and, of course, Chicago.
Bring your pillow.

Call for Writers and Interns: Proximity magazine.
This is a last call for contributors for our second issue which we are working on right now. We need your words by July 11, 2008. If you want to start simple then give us a holler and email to ed(at)proximitymagazine.com and Mairead.case(at)gmail.com. Send us a proposal or ask us how you can be part of the plan.
Proximity is accepting applications for internships. The commitment is unpaid, and lasts 10-15 hours per week for 3-4 months. Ideal candidates are hard-working, self-starting, meticulous, and interested in culture and politics. Interns help with administration, work at monthly events, research on new projects, and more. You will get first-hand experience in exhibition programming, special events, fundraising and development, and administrative operations. To apply, contact Rachael(at)proximitymagazine.com

Proximity update

Thanks to all of you that have responded so enthusiastically about our premier issue. We are so glad you like it. If you were at Next Art fair and want to get more copies please give us a holler. We would love your feedback and like to hear some ideas of what you want to see in the future.
Proximitymagazine.com is coming! Sorry for the delay but our website won't be ready until June. We were a bit busy with Version festival and couldn't allocate enough time.
Also we have newsstand distribution at a dozen or so locations in Chicago but ONLINE sales can be made at Quimby's.com our favorite zine store in Chicago.
Proximity is also going to Germany and The Netherlands for some festivals, distribution deals and research on an upcoming issue. If you live in the Netherlands we will be hanging tough at the Impakt festival in Utrecht from May 7-11. We will be also at De Player on May 10 hosting a Radar Eyes Print show. Then we are off to Finland to visit reindeer at the arctic circle.
If you would like to contact us please use proximitymagazine (at) gmail.com.
